we are but eleven territorial nations

obviously pure metaphor
too bad it needs to have a regionalization
for vivacity

deep south  is   a  bi nation ?

in fact the black nation of norte amigo
 has been dissolved away
not even a vestigal  black belt nation  in dixie

clearly not the pipe dream of a soul brother eh ?

but then

i love the implications of el norte

chicania

Arriba !  Arriba !   Epa! Epa!  Epa !

who can quibble with greater appalachia ?

or the brutally split "new france "

midlands strikes me as a sickeningly mixed loaf  however

part butter nut part  wheat cakes
part  apple jack part union jack

and some of the smaller bits become deeply metaphoric of course
tidey bowl  and new dutch cleaner ?

first nation up there in the tundra does capture in a cruel way
the roll up and final " freeze out"
of the entire crazy quilt of nations
that blanketed pre columbian  north amerika

( note the horror of this rendition..among much else where are the Iroquois ?)

--------------------------------------------------------------------
compare and contrast
the 9 nations gimmick

the basic error is to substitute regions for nations ..obviously

the co patric "context " of  struggling nations is a far deeper story

the concious attempt to nationalize a disperessed peoples
the move from a sense of community or sub culuture that involves
in essence is a demand for self determination needless to say
and the hoary conflict between territorial demarkations and well defined regions with
  unitary  sovereignties
versus  multi national rights within one "land"

yikes
where does poetry and patriotism mix with greater volitlity
