pk by implication can't rule out the savings increase of a wealth tax

actually he sez nothing about wealth at first
only about thos making a  higher income
"... you never do find conservatives arguing that we shouldn’t worry about higher tax rates on the rich, because they’ll just work harder to be able to afford those luxury goods;"

i read that and immediately jumped

he really needs to think on this more

especially if he accepts the berger  moral law

"accumulate accumulate "

why penalize  big  earners
they are potentially fast accumulators ?

but just as i'm about to huuurumph

and shout "hit  wealth not income idiot "

comes this :

".. a higher inheritance tax probably expands work effort,
because it would force the Paris Hiltons of this world
to go out and get real jobs."

fair enough

but hacking at wealth on a regular basis
might accelerate social accumulation too ...eh ?

the good old  effects of wealth   on spending  and earning by saving

share a conflict of motives with job earned income
at any rate
hit  wealth not income
